De Alfa Romeo 2600, onthuld op de Frankfurt Motor Show van 1965, markeert een mijlpaal als het laatste 6-cilinder-in-lijnmodel dat Alfa ooit heeft voortgebracht – een erfenis die helemaal teruggaat tot de jaren '20. Met de 2600 Sprint Zagato, een creatie van de visionaire Ercole Spada, injecteerde Alfa Romeo een dosis ontembare Italiaanse passie in hun vlaggenschip, en ditmaal met een lichte, sportieve twist.

Die van ons? Oorspronkelijk geleverd in het schilderachtige Zwitserland en sinds 2007 in handen van een gepassioneerde verzamelaar. Van de slechts 105 exemplaren die Zagato produceerde, zijn er volgens het 2600 SZ Register nog maar 59 in leven in verschillende condities. Met haar kloppende nummers en een recent gereviseerde motor is dit een ware parel. De remmerij is ook vernieuwd en zorgt voor moderne stopkracht in dit rijdende stuk kunst.

Emerging from the glorious era in which Touring, Bertone, and Zagato intensely and creatively challenged each other, the 2600 SZ rolled off the production line in a limited series. Faithful to tradition, Alfa Romeo’s flagship underwent a special treatment – with extraordinary success.

Unveiled at the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo 2600 marks a milestone as the last inline-six model Alfa ever produced – a legacy dating all the way back to the 1920s. With the 2600 Sprint Zagato, a creation of the visionary Ercole Spada, Alfa Romeo injected a dose of untamed Italian passion into their flagship, this time with a lightweight, sporty twist.

Ours? Originally delivered in picturesque Switzerland and owned by a passionate collector since 2007. Of the mere 105 units produced by Zagato, only 59 are believed to survive today in various conditions, according to the 2600 SZ Register. With matching numbers and a recently overhauled engine, this is a true gem. The braking system has also been renewed, ensuring modern stopping power in this rolling piece of art.
