In the late 90's the VAG group stood in for a change. The old, dated and frankly boring models were not selling well, and the group needed a fresh set of models to revive sales. What came of this was one of the largest reconstructions of a automotive company in modern times. And the cars that VAG decided to bless us with became iconic. None more so than the Audi TT.
The first generation TT was like nothing that came before it. Designed by legendary automotive designer Freeman Thomas the car might have shared its underpinnings with other VAG products, but the exterior was one of the most beautiful we ever came to see out of the 90's.
This example is specified in a wonderful shade of silver. A color that really shows the shape of the cars combined with a set of 18" multi-spoke wheels that became synonymous with this generation TT. The exterior is simple and clean and free from unnecessary details.
The inside follows the same ethos. Simple shapes and details. The center consol houses climate controls and a large aluminum plate that covers the radio. It really feels like everything was designed with function and form in mind here. But the highlight here is without a doubt the leather. Audi called it Baseball stitching and it was one of the most desirable options on the TT roadster. Unique to the first generation and the roadster this brown/orange leather is defined by its large leather stitches that run around the seats. The brown leather offers a wonderful contrast to the rest of the car.
Having covered just over 82166 km this TT was delivered to Sweden from new and is fitted with the desirable 225 hp version of the 1,8L engine and Quattro all wheel drive.
A prime example of a youngtimer and a future collectable.
