If you want to own a Ferrari, stop taking advice from those that drive Toyotas –

De 599, ontworpen door Pininfarina, verscheen in 2007 als een stap voorwaarts in het assortiment, met looks die destijds enigszins controversieel waren, maar tegenwoordig gelden als een hoogtepunt in dat laatste tijdperk van gestroomlijnd en stijlvol design onder leiding van Pininfarina. Eenvoudig en ingetogen, maar toch heel agressief.

De Ferrari 612 is niet alleen haar voorganger, maar een eerste generatie pionier in Ferrari die ver van de 575 en 550 tak afweek. Dan dus de 599… Neem de 612. Voeg chili toe. Meer… Nóg meer…. Het begint erop te lijken… Je snapt waar we op doelen. De 612 was een echte GT, de 599 een supercar die zich ook leent tot GT.

Waar de 612 nog gebruik maakte van de ‘oude’ V12, werd in de 599 het F140C blok gelepeld. En dat blok is op één CC na, gelijk aan het blok van de Ferrari Enzo (F144B). Up yours, buurman! De topsnelheid wilde Ferrari niet verklappen; “boven de 300” was het antwoord. Autojournalisten haalden de GPS 340(!) en pas bij 7.600 toeren levert ze alle 620 steigerende paarden, die worden benadrukt door de rood knipperende leds in je stuur: Tijd om te schakelen, Schumi!!

En dan toch nog een keer over de styling.. Forme, sensazione e tecnica: concentrati sull’emozione! Geen spoilers of vleugels, dat laten we over aan de petjes. Open C-stijlen die fungeren als spoiler, maar ogen als een waar kunstwerk… Alle lijnen lopen in elkaar over, sluiten op elkaar aan en geven de 599 een spannend uiterlijk. Zo sierlijk dat het wat tijd verdient om op je in te laten werken. Met een goede barolo, in de mancave, naast de Rari.

Ze is origineel geleverd in Parijs en dat verklaart ook de uiterst chique uitvoering. De deftige Parisien is van buiten Grigio Silverstone en van binnen Grigio Scuro. De Giallo Modena remklauwen in combinatie met de Ferrari Shields aan de zijkant maken het feest helemaal compleet. Ze is de belichaming van zoals ze bedoeld is. Zien we je snel?

The 599, designed by Pininfarina, appeared in 2007 as a step forward in the range, with looks that were somewhat controversial at the time but today count as a culmination of that last era of streamlined and stylish design led by Pininfarina. Simple and understated, yet very aggressive.

The Ferrari 612 is not only its predecessor, but a first-generation pioneer in Ferrari that strayed far from the 575 and 550 branches. So then the 599... Take the 612. Add chilli. More... nay more.... It's starting to look like it... You get what we're getting at. The 612 was a true GT, the 599 a supercar that also lends itself to GT.

Whereas the 612 still used the 'old' V12, the 599 had the F140C block shoved into it. And that block is similar to the one in the Ferrari Enzo (F144B) except for one CC. Up yours, neighbour! Ferrari would not divulge the top speed; "above 300" was the answer. Auto journalists took the GPS to 340(!) and only at 7,600 rpm does it deliver all 620 prancing horses, highlighted by the red flashing LEDs in your steering wheel: Time to change gears, Schumi!!!

And then again about the styling.... Forme, sensazione e tecnica: concentrati sull'emozione! No spoilers or wings, we'll leave that to the caps. Open C-pillars that act as spoilers, but look like a true work of art... All the lines flow into each other, fit together and give the 599 an exciting look. So graceful that it deserves some time to sink in. With a good barolo, in the mancave, next to the Rari.

She was originally delivered in Paris, which also explains the extremely chic design. The distinguished Parisien is Grigio Silverstone outside and Grigio Scuro inside. The Giallo Modena brake calipers combined with the Ferrari Shields on the side complete the party. She is the epitome of as she was meant to be. Will we see you soon?
